In this VSE Social Justice Spotlight, we talk with Matthew Lorin. Mr. Lorin began his career as a program designer for various organizations and has since progressed to become a senior consultant and a consulting executive director. He graduated from Tufts University with his bachelor’s degree in art history and then attended The Harvard Kennedy School, the policy school of Harvard University, where he obtained his master’s degree in public administration. Since then, Mr. Lorin has worked for many humanitarian organizations such as the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture in Nepal. Mr. Lorin also has experience working in the government sector during his time with the US National Security Council. Some of his other positions include the Programs Director for the NYC Mayor’s commission to the United Nations and the Director of Planning, research, evaluation, and grants for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Currently, he is a senior consultant and works with many clients here, such as PBS Hawaii, Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate, and Hawaii Electric Company. He is an outstanding leader with his extensive service experience on the local, state, national, and international levels.
